Andy & Eils head South in Dakar

Andy & Eils head South in Dakar
You’ve never seen Cork like this… well we hadn’t! As citizens of this fair country for 30 plus years (we don’t like to discuss the plus part), we would consider ourselves pretty well traveled of the high-ways and by-ways. Boy were we in for a surprise! In February, we hired Big Blue for an adventure in Northern Ireland (see Andy & Eils head North in Big Blue). Now that the inner adventurers had been awoken, we couldn’t get them back to sleep so returned to Pat and Sue for another adventure ticket in June. We left work on a Tuesday evening and headed straight for Lazy Days’ HQ. This time, we took Dakar and headed South West. We stopped for the night at Hook Head and wild camped. It is indescribably beautiful there in summer time. After a quick brekkie, we made for Cork. Over the next 4 days we traveled from Bally Cotton lighthouse to Kenmare. In-between, we saw moving statues, whale carcasses bigger than 5 Dakars in a row, beautiful villages with amazing local produce and of course more beautiful beaches than you could shake a stick at. In Dakar, we were able to go places we wouldn’t be brave enough to go in our car. Not only that, but we could stay there. Amazing places with no hotels in sight for miles and miles – it wasn’t a problem for us. We could pop the top in Dakar, sit back and watch the sun set. Pat and Sue just make the whole transition to a campervan completely seamless. We were equipped with absolutely everything we’d need from bowls to bin bags. We couldn’t recommend this experience any more to people. If you’re not sure you’ll like it, just get out there and try it, it will blow your mind…
