Today we are saying goodbye to our first ever VW Camper Rocky bought way back in 2007. Rocky gave us our first taste of family camping VW-style! Happy memories include camping at the beautiful Streedagh strand in Sligo and going to the Irish Green Gathering festival in Wexford.

Our first Family Camping trip to Streedagh, Sligo in Rocky
Rocky was the inspiration for our business Lazy Days. Back in 2007 no one in Ireland was renting vintage VW campers so our business idea took off like wild fire. Within the year we had bought 3 more campers Barry, Charlie & Indy and enquiries and bookings started flooding in… Happy Days.
Rocky got treated to a full restoration, brand new interior and fresh coat of paint (cream over bright red) in our back yard in 2010. He went on to make many Lazy Days customers happy until the end of 2015 when we finally retired him from our fleet.
It is always difficult to say good bye to these campers. They really get under your skin. Rocky has a special place in our hearts because he was our first.
We are especially happy that Rocky’s is going to a great couple, past clients Alan & Maria who rented our 1967 split-screen Spike back in 2013. They caught the bug and are now taking the plunge into ownership and taking charge of Rocky for this next phase of his life. Good luck Alan & Maria, we hope you get as much fun out of Rocky as we did over the years…
Ireland’s a small place so we’ll surely see you around Rocky!
