We had the great pleasure to facilitate a very “different kind of holiday” for the lovely Kate & Ian over Paddy’s weekend in March. Kate approached us with her unique story earlier in March… after taking part in the BBC listening project, later broadcast on BBC Manchester and BBC Radio 4, Kate & Ian had agreed to be take each other out of their comfort zones for a weekend/few days. Kate’s plan was to take blogger Ian on an unplugged weekend camping over St. Patrick’s day in Ireland. Ian had no idea what was in store and we loved the look of surprise on his face when they rolled into Lazy Days to collect their camper… Ian gives his side of the story on his blog Cubic Garden, you can read it here. The trip was a great little adventure and Dakkar was the perfect camper. I’ve never driven anything very big before and my usual car is a Suzuki Swift – but it was a breeze to drive and the fitting out if the van makes it very easy to convert when your ready to stop and settle down for the evening. Dunmore East was a picture postcard little place and the facilities were ideal. So nice to be able to open the van door in the morning and have a view over the bay. The perfect way to explore the emerald isle on St Patricks day weekend.
