Stephen & Annette’s trip in Big Blue

Stephen & Annette’s trip in Big Blue

Dear Sue & Pat,

We did enjoy our trip in Big Blue and can recommend the following campsites:

  • Hideaway Campsite, Castletownend Road, Skibbereen – very clean and well-organised, vans are on stone chippings. Easy 10 minute walk into Skibbereen.
  • Mountshannon – on the shore of Lough Derg, camp amongst the trees and see the Red Squirrels. Greet place for wildlife and if into fishing and the lake, but a bit quirky and not much in the way of restaurant nearby (Scariff is your best bet).
  • Salthill, Galway – busy but campervans are put in a field by the entrance to the site. Good beach and it’s a 25 minute walk along the coastal path to Galway City. The Joyce supermarket has an amazing food selection.
  • Keel Sandybanks Campsite, Achill Island – very clean and right next to a sandy beach with lots of activities available. Great base to explore Achill from.
